Every trip we did, I'd add to it. Over time it became the thing I reached for before every journey. Which sites had full hook-ups. Which ones could take our size of van. Which ones we'd go back to and which ones we wouldn't touch again. It was imperfect and it lived in a spreadsheet, but it was ours and it was real.
I got into pinpointing locations during lockdown — I was doing genealogy, using Google Maps to mark grave sites I wanted to visit. One day it clicked. Why am I keeping the campsite information in a spreadsheet? I started dropping the sites onto a map instead.
That map grew filters. Then a journey planner. Then a way for other campers to report back on availability and keep the information honest. What started as me trying to solve my own frustration quietly became something I hadn't planned for at all.
The more I looked, the more I realised the gap was real. Campers everywhere were searching the same way I had been — trawling multiple websites, outdated forums, Facebook groups with posts from three years ago. Good information existed, but it was scattered, unreliable and hard to find. Nobody had brought it together properly. So I kept going.
That's still where this comes from. One camper, one spreadsheet, one problem that needed fixing. Nothing has changed about that.
